The KCCA and Soju Wave are currently collaborating on a brand new project that aims to cover and promote all things Korean, happening right in the greater Toronto area. Whether it's food, fashion, fascinating people, events, and live entertainment, we hope to connect people who have a passion for Korean culture, and provide a platform where people can share stories and ideas for the betterment of the community.
A little bit about Soju Wave:
Soju Wave started as a blog based on experiences and interest, and is growing out of pure love in Korean food.
Soju Wave’s goals have always been to promote Korean culture, Korean businesses, and most of all to get Canadians engaged with the community. The owner of Soju Wave works in the media industry with some insights that may help any of those interested in pursuing a career in this field.
You may be wondering what a place like Ichiban Fish House, serving Japanese food, is doing on our predominantly Korean blog. In actuality there are a few similarities between these countries’ dishes. Raw fish for example tastes good no matter who serves it. That, and this is a part of a series of posts sponsored by the Korean Canadian Cultural Center 한인회.
Uijeongbu BudaeJjigae (or Sik as it’s English name, pronounced “chic”) just happens to be on spring garden, right beside our first recommendation from the KCCA, Ichiban Fish House. I live nowhere close to the area so this is a second visit on a different day. I swear I didn’t eat all that food for dinner. I’ll eventually have to update this post since the owner told me of some event/promotion he’ll have every Friday to Sunday, so keep posted.
The peace marathon in Toronto took place at Sunnybrook park just last week, September 26th 2015. Organized by the Korean Canadian Cultural Association (KCCA – 한인회), they offer 5K and 10K runs, as well as a 5K walk. With the 5K walk starting at the KCCA office, I headed there first and made it just in time for the official start. Unfortunately, I took a few pictures with my camera and realized I had forgotten the memory card so I had to make due with my nexus 5. Why is it named a Peace Marathon?
